Test My Teen

Test My Teen provides an effective way for schools, police departments, coalitions and treatment centers to fight drug abuse without any legal, political, or financial risk. Our program puts the responsibility, investment, and decision regarding drug testing right where it belongs… with the parents.

Unfortunately, schools who’ve recently tried to mandate their own drug testing programs for students in extracurricular activities won the battle in the Supreme Court, but may have lost the war by unnecessarily turning parents into adversaries instead of allies over the privacy issues. Police officers put their lives on the line everyday as do the good kids who make poor decisions regarding drug use in the absence of their parents influence. It doesn’t have to be that way.

We’ve organized high quality educational and informational resources for community leaders and the parents they serve. Through our alliance, we provide free drug testing kits to parents who need them.

KIDS WIN:

Kids need a “socially acceptable” way to say no to drugs, alcohol, and tobacco… so we’re giving them one. “My parents test me.”

PARENTS WIN:

Our approach helps parents protect their model student or troubled teen from the dangers of substance abuse, without sacrificing privacy. It also provides a pathway for parents and teens to rebuild trust and repair damaged relationships caused by previous drug usage.

SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES WIN:

In the absence of drugs, communities can look forward to better, safer schools and neighborhoods.

The Berne Police Department and Parents unite against substance abuse.

Unfortunately, “friends” often try harder to make kids who say “no” to drugs, alcohol and tobacco feel like outcasts. Home testing kits have emerged that protect privacy and provide kids with a socially acceptable excuse, “my parents test me.”

For years, police have been the first to know when local kids used drugs while their parents were often the last to know. We found a way to work together and can turn that around.

Chief Richard Crider recently announced a new alliance with TestMyTeen.com, an organization that has donated over $5,000 worth of free home drug test kit vouchers to be shared anonymously with parents who need them.

Schools, police, community leaders and parents can now work together to ensure safer schools and homes. Kids can use it to prove their trustworthiness to their parents and dissolve unwanted pressure from peers.

Private and confidential vouchers for free test kits are available electronically by visiting the Berne Police Web site. Answers to frequently asked questions about home-based substance abuse testing are available at:
